Evaluations of Patient Monitoring Systems
Staff members at UCSF created a guidance document to assist countries to evaluate electronic patient monitoring (EPM) systems for their effectiveness in:
- Completeness of patient data
- Acceptability to providers and staff
- Time-flow of the patient’s visit
- Time needed to generate reports
- Security, flexibility, and usefulness of the system
- Staff required for data entry and report generation
- Quality of the data.
Staff members at UCSF have expertise in assessing paper and electronic patient monitoring systems for comprehensiveness, compatibility with national MOH systems and WHO guidelines, usability, flexibility, cost, and data quality. Staff experience has included conducting a national assessment of care and treatment partners in Mozambique and a similar assessment in Uganda.
